बिहार–नेपाल सीमाBIHAR–NEPAL BORDERwhere the line starts

Hi, I'm Abhiraj. I build the backend that keeps working at 3am.

I grew up in a small town on the Bihar–Nepal border, where nobody I knew had internet at home. So as a kid I rooted an old Android phone, figured out how the Wi‑Fi networks around town worked, and got my friends and me online for free. I didn't know it was called hacking. I just knew I'd made something work that wasn't supposed to.

Today I'm a backend-heavy full-stack engineer in Hyderabad. I design systems, direct coding agents to build them, and own the review, testing and rollout myself.

Four years of computer science, and a lot of contests at midnight.

When I picked a B.Tech in Computer Science, I had never heard the word coding and didn't own a laptop. I got both at Lovely Professional University. Competitive programming taught me to think fast under a timer.

Somewhere along the way I started teaching too: live sessions and tutorials on Code with Newton for 1,200+ students, plus beginner projects and guides on GitHub and YouTube.

Before my final year began, I landed a year-long internship at MAQ Software in Hyderabad, so I spent fourth year shipping software instead of sitting in class.

First full-time job: make a React Native app feel fast.

At an early-stage startup I built a TV dashboard for Android TV, a responsive feed and a custom in‑app camera. Then I benchmarked React Native UI libraries and led the migration to a faster one.

I designed REST APIs in Node.js and Express with validation, centralized error handling, JWT auth and Mongoose models. On the frontend I built a drag-and-drop form builder that 100+ users relied on.

Now: the systems SREs use while production is on fire.

Hippo incident-update pipeline

Problem
During a live incident, customers need accurate updates on a schedule, while the SREs are busy fighting the fire.
What I built
The LLM pipeline inside Hippo, Zeta's Microsoft Teams incident bot. It drafts a customer update on a schedule set by severity, every 60, 120 or 240 minutes for Sev1 to Sev3. An LLM validator checks each draft and regenerates it up to 3 times, then an SRE approves it in Teams. The update publishes exactly once, even with several replicas running.
Stack
Node.js, TypeScript, Azure OpenAI
Outcome
37 requirements delivered with 595 tests, and 11 defects caught in pre-production before release.

SaaS Navigator SRE console

Problem
SREs needed one console across many production zones, where one slow zone must not block the whole view.
What I built
A multi-tenant SRE console, backend and frontend. The backend runs REST APIs across production zones with a cluster-cache refresh, parallel zone requests so one slow zone does not block the response, and empty results instead of 500 errors. The React frontend has overview, alerts, incidents, clusters, components, flows and customer-services views backed by 11 typed service clients. I also shipped shared React and TypeScript packages used by 9 SRE Home micro-frontend apps.
Stack
Node.js, TypeScript, React
Outcome
I wrote 80% of the frontend app's commits, and fixed critical issues across 4 apps within 24 hours for a US client demo.

Production reliability

Problem
A shared Postgres was under heavy load and some APIs were timing out.
What I built
I profiled the database with RDS Performance Insights and added an index for its heaviest query, then traced the remaining timeouts to unbounded COUNT(*) scans over 100 GB+ tables. I also found and fixed 24 defects across 4 backend services while stabilizing an 1,100+ case test suite, using caller analysis to keep every change backward compatible.
Stack
PostgreSQL, RDS Performance Insights, Node.js
Outcome
About 50% less load on the shared Postgres, and CI failures down from 140 to 8.

I also created the team's shared agent-skills repository and built 10 reusable skills for PR review, review-comment resolution, Jira ticket investigation, deployments and API latency analysis.

595tests for 37 requirements, 11 bugs caught before release
~50%less load on a shared Postgres, from one index
140 → 8CI failures after fixing 24 bugs in 4 services
10agent skills built for the team's shared repo
Try it: run an incident drill
  1. Incident opens. Next update due in … min
  2. Azure OpenAI drafts the customer update
  3. LLM validator checks the draft
  4. SRE approves in Teams
  5. Published once across replicas
Pick a severity to start.

Chrome extension · reads any page aloud

Problem
Most read-aloud tools spell a page out flatly and read code symbol by symbol, which is hard to follow.
How I built it
An LLM rewrites a page into natural spoken teaching and explains code instead of reading symbols, with the text highlighted in time with the voice, in English, Hindi and Hinglish. It is a Chrome MV3 extension with a Node backend, Google sign-in, usage metering and a shared Postgres cache. Speech runs on Azure OpenAI with an OpenAI fallback.
The hard part
The extension kept showing an offline message while the user was online. The cause was a dormant MV3 service worker: a message to it got no reply, which the client read as offline. I fixed it with a bounded, online-gated wake and retry that wakes the worker and tries once more.
Stack
Chrome MV3, TypeScript, Node, Postgres, LLM and TTS

Problem
A menstrual-health app that is already live needed its backend hardened before it could carry more.
How I built it
I built the Expo app and the Node backend, and I run its production database, releases and incident fixes. I work staging first: every change goes through a staging environment and full verification before any production migration, and I keep restore-verified database backups.
The hard part
A backend audit surfaced several reliability risks that I fixed in priority order: a missing unique constraint that allowed duplicate cycle rows, a refresh-token rotation race, database connection pools left unconfigured across replicas, no graceful shutdown on SIGTERM, and per-replica in-process caches that could serve stale data. The daily jobs now run exactly once across replicas using a Postgres lock.

Open source · checks AI-written code

A protocol for AI-written code: plan, build, review and prove, with the planner, builder and reviewer kept as separate agents so no agent grades its own work. It works with Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and Cursor.

Problem
AI coding agents review their own work, claim things are verified without proof, and start over when a session dies.
How I built it
A protocol that splits the work across separate planner, builder and reviewer contexts, so no context grades its own output. Every claim needs real evidence attached, and progress is saved to plain files on disk so any session, even in a different tool, resumes where the last one stopped. No server, no API keys, no dependencies, just markdown and one install script.
The hard part
Making one protocol run unchanged across many different agents. It ships adapters for Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf, Cline, Zed and Aider, plus a generic one, and a run started in one tool resumes in another.
Stack
Markdown protocol, shell installer, MIT licensed

Agents write a lot of my code. Nothing ships until it's proven.

I work AI-native: I write the design, coding agents build and test it, and I own the review and the rollout. Every change has to pass these signals in order.

  2. 2

    Review the plan

A separate reviewer reads it. Gaps go back to the planner.
